How is it possible to draw an apposite additional line (to the original diagram) for the audience to amplify their imagination, at all? Without language? It's impossible for the theater works?
In this summer, watching the shows in the Taipei Fringe Festival, I asked myself again, and again. The reason why is some shows, some actors' acting actually touched me in my heart. With no subtitles!
I'm now in Tokyo, and still keeping thinking that question for my next creation. In our theater company's rehearsal studio.
Setting up a hypothesis, it maybe depends on how many actors take risks or not. I think that, I couldn't be impressed by actors who were in the safety zone, as a result of their will or cowardice, (in the other words, without a flaw.)
The acting is never to pretend. Not just to be identifying yourself with the role of the script. Actor should stand beside the role, itself or (standing beside the words you are speaking), just being flustered.
You are required to get hurt by your acting, your words you spoke or, (of course!) by the other actors' acting.
"To be him or not to be, this is a woman", solo act of "hsimsungsung studio" was maybe interesting solo performance. As I'm writing repeatedly, I can't understand Chinese. However, some performance touched me indeed. "To be him or not to be, this is a woman" was, not. I felt it was like a kind of imitation. It was not exactly the one. I thought.
Yes, the play is a fiction. However, that does not mean it's a fake. All you need is a good fiction, story. You should never be the cheap fake.
